Hope House
Hope House Welcome. Hope House, built in 1849 and completely renovated in 2007, is a former parsonage for the Portlandville United Methodist Church. Facing a declining congregation and mounting expenses, the members of the church invested their time and talents in the restoration of this beautiful riverfront home. The revenue from our house guests allows the church to remain open and its ministry active. The spacious backyard overlooks the peaceful Susquehanna River providing opportunities to fish, kayak, enjoy a good book or a wonderful place to relax after a busy day at baseball games. A picnic table, gas grill, fishing poles, and Adirondack chairs are provided for your convenience. The first floor features a country kitchen with all cooking necessities provided. Guests can gather in the dining room for dinner and relax in a comfortable and cozy living room to enjoy cable television. A bedroom with queen bed, two full baths, and laundry facilities on this floor provide perfect accommodations for all. Three bedrooms - one with a queen bed, one with two twin beds and one with bunk beds – and another full bathroom on the second floor provide plenty of room for larger families. We hope you will choose to stay with us. Cable TV and AC and WiFi! Canoe/kayak rentals just down the street!
